Gratitude for the Struggle: How Survival Reveals Our Hidden Strength

Every morning, before getting out of bed, many Jews say two words: "Modeh Ani", I give thanks. Not "I will give thanks when everything is perfect". Just: I give thanks, now, today, as I am.

Thanks for the struggle?

It sounds strange to be grateful for hard times. Nobody wants to suffer. But look back at your life. The moments that made you stronger, wiser and kinder were rarely the easy ones. Survival is the place where we meet our hidden powers.

Sowing in tears

The psalm of return from Babylon says: "Those who sow in tears will reap in joy" (Psalm 126:5). The farmer who plants seeds does not see the harvest yet. He plants anyway, sometimes crying. The joy comes later, and it grows from those same tears.

Three questions for survivors

  • What strength did I discover in myself because of a hard time?
  • Who stood by me when I was surviving, and have I thanked them?
  • What would I tell my younger self who was still in the storm?

Proud of the journey

Being a Babylon Survivor is not about complaining. It is about recognizing the journey and being grateful for what it built in you. The Babylon Survivor denim tee is simple, strong and proud of the journey.
